Visitors to the museum and archive are warmly welcomed. The facility, in the community centre in Uig, is open Monday to Saturday, 12-5pm, from May to mid-September, and visits at other times can be arranged on request. Out of opening hours, please contact John (01851) 672255 or Teen Anne (01851) 672363 and we will gladly open up for you.
As an entirely voluntary organisation we do not maintain a staffed office, but would be pleased to help with genealogical or other enquiries if we can. You may also like to consult Hebridean Connections, our online database project, where all known Uigeachs from about 1450 onward are gradually being subjected to the indignity of digitisation!

Hi Joan – thanks for that – we’d love to have them. I’ll give you a ring.
Hello,
I found your very interesting website by accident and was surprised to find a photograph of my father Donald Macleod in the Valtos school collection, 1928-29.
I have some photograph of him in uniform during the 2nd World War. If you are interested in expanding your ‘in uniform’ collection I could scan one and send it along.
I hope to return for a visit soon and would love to see your museum.
Best wishes and thanks for the the hard work in keeping the memories of the past generations alive.
Anna Macleod. Ireland
Hello Anna,
Are you the same Anna Macleod in Ireland I have been corresponding with regarding the Macleod genealogy of my wife ??
It is the branch of the Lewis Macleods which in other publication are referred to as the Macleods of Pabbay and Uig.
In the meantime we have been able (with the help of others) to find more branches (Borrowston for instance) to that family .
Sincere regards,
Gerard Lemmens, Wadhurst, East Sussex
Hi,
I am a weaver based in South Africa. We produce fabrics woven on domestic circular box looms and need to purchase shuttles and pirns to enable us carry on weaving with these looms. Is there any one who can help us locate these items.
Stuart.
Hi there greetings from Dorset,
Do you have any information on a Jennifer Thorpe from St Marys, in Ontario I think who was trying to track down relatives in Uig. I am possibly related to her on the Ungeshader side of the Family. I know she was in touch with Donald Maciver from Crowlista. Was she in touch with the Comunn Eachdraidh? If you can help me in any way I’d be most grateful. It would be great to get in touch with her. Keep up the sterling work you do at the Comunn Eachdraidh. Le Gach Dhurachd. Iain M Macleod (Geshader, Uig).
