What a delight to read your very descriptive story of the sheep gathering. I lost myself in years gone by, reading it. When my brothers and sister and I were young, our father would tell us about going out to the moors to gather the sheep. We all looked forward to the fanks at Gisla. We lived at No 9 Enaclete, but left Lewis in 1977. So my memories go back much further than 1995. I rememmber our father leaving the house early in the morning to meet the other men folk and how we all wished and prayed that the day would be fine to aid them in the "Gathering".My only regret was that I never got the chance to experience it for myself as firstly I was too young and secondly I was female.
Thanks again David.
